The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) Saturday decided to reduce e-visa fees for tourists, business travellers and ordinary citizens, effective January 1, 2025.

RGC has accordingly instructed relevant ministries and institutions to enhance and facilitate procedures for issuing e-Visas and e-Arrival visas within the Royal Government’s single ecosystem, according to a RGC’s press release.

“Additionally, it mandates a reduction in e-Visa fees for Tourist (T) and ordinary visa types (E). These changes will take effect starting January 1, 2025.”

“The updated e-Visa fees are as follows – e-Visa T reduced from $36 to $30, and e-Visa E reduced from $42 to $35,” it said.

Tob Sopheak, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism (MoT), told Khmer Times that as part of the Royal Government, MoT, under the leadership of Minister Huot Hak has been actively working to attract tourists to Cambodia.

“The goal is to promote Cambodian tourism across all destinations in the tourism market and in 2024, we expect to receive 6.7 million international tourists.

“The government consistently prioritizes the promotion of tourism sector, and the e-Visas discount is intended to facilitate travel for tourists,” Sopheak said.

Cambodia is well-known for its world cultural heritage sites such as the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap province, the Preah Vihear Temple and Koh Ker Temple in Preah Vihear province, and the Sambor Prei Kuk Archaeological Site in Kampong Thom province.

Additionally, the Kingdom has a 450-kilometre-long pristine coastline stretching across four southwestern provinces including Preah Sihanouk, Kampot, Kep, and Koh Kong.

In a recent report, the National Bank of Cambodia stated that the tourism sector is one of the main drivers of the country’s economic growth in 2024.

Cambodia attracted 6 million international tourists during the first eleven months of 2024, a year-on-year increase of 22 percent, according to a report released by the Ministry of Tourism on December 23, 2024.

According to the report, Thailand emerged as the top source market for foreign tourist arrivals in Cambodia from January to November, with 1.91 million visitors, a year-on-year decrease of 15.4 percent.

Around 1.2 million Vietnamese and 769,775 Chinese tourists visited during the period, an increase of 30.8 percent and 54.5 percent, respectively.

As many as 2.15 million foreign visitors, or about 35.9 percent of the total foreign tourist arrivals, traveled to Cambodia by air, a year-on-year increase of 28.6 percent.

The remaining tourists arrived via land border gates and waterways, the report pointed out.
