In response to the Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin’s request and Prime Minister Hun Manet directive, Chheang Ra, the Minister of Health, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two ministries on Health Cooperation on Thursday.
The signing ceremony took place during the participation of the 16th ASEAN Health Ministers Meeting and Related Meetings in Vientiane, Laos.
The MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation in promoting health services, health sector resilience, public health emergencies, safety of health products and medical equipment, and health technology, including digital health and biomedical technology.
The MoU will also further strengthen the scope of cooperation in the health sector of the two countries and meet the health priorities, primarily on strengthening the health care system, aimed at improving welfare, the quality of health services, and human resource development to contribute to the efforts of the ministry to improve the well-being of the Cambodian people to achieve global health coverage in line with the first phase of the Pentagonal Strategy of the Royal Government.
At the signing ceremony, Sadikin proposed a partnership with the ministry for a National Centre for Cardiology and Cancer with the support of the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital.
In response, Ra warmly welcomed the strengthening and expansion of cooperation and affirmed the friendship and cooperation between the two countries for the past 65 years.
